Federal Government Shuts Down, Courts Still Open

Although Congress failed to fund the Federal Government as of today (October 1), all Federal Courts in Illinois are still open, including the Northern District of Illinois, the Central District of Illinois, the Southern District of Illinois, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  Existing appropriations will keep the courts running for approximately two weeks, at which point the various courts will need to reassess their ability to continue operating.
